IPL 2024 Final:
After taking the team to numerous championships since June of last year, Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia, grinned and acknowledged that the incredible run will finally come to an end as the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024 ) approaches.
At some point, the run has got to stop. These past few years have been amazing. I wasn’t really sure what to anticipate going into this series because I hadn’t captained in any T20 cricket matches. The T20 match moves quickly, of course. The Sunrisers Hyderabad captain stated on the eve of the summit match against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai, “But drawing on ODI captaincy last year, it didn’t feel too foreign.”
Australia, led by Cummins, has been sweeping the globe since defeating India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final last year. They have gone on to win the ODI World Cup in November and retain The Ashes in England.
Cummins is a welcome exception who follows his “gut instinct” more in an era when the all-pervasive data is said to hold all the answers.
The offensive style of openers in IPL 2024 Abhishek and Head in the PowerPlay set the tone for the explosive season that has seen records fall for the team. These two have been at the front of SRH’s comeback.
Sunrisers have improved under Cummins, who was acquired for Rs. 20.50 crore at the auction last year, from the bottom of the table in IPL 2023 to the final IPL 2024. The captain credited head coach Vettori and the team’s “super-aggressive” strategy for the team’s turnaround.
The skipper added that supporting Indian youth was essential for the team to thrive in the IPL 2024 and praised local talent like Abhishek and Nitish Kumar Reddy for stepping up, something the team lacked the previous season.
Even though the Sunrisers had to adjust to challenging conditions in order to defeat the Rajasthan Royals and recalculate their aggressiveness at bat, Cummins stated that the batting unit would not waver in the championship game.
In order to stop Rajasthan in their tracks and assist SRH, whose strong suit hasn’t been spin bowling this season, in defending 175 runs, all-rounders Abhishek and Shahbaz Ahmad combined to take five wickets.
Rain and cloud cover provided some relief from the scorching heat on match eve, and Cummins hoped that this would not significantly affect the final result. It also helped that the typical Chennai dew did not appear on Friday.

Due to heavy rain at Chepauk in Chennai on Saturday, the Kolkata Knight Riders’ practice session was shortened. As a result, the teams and the crowd will be staring skyward on Sunday when KKR plays Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL final.
In relation to the weather, the prediction for Sunday is excellent news for fans of cricket: AccuWeather predicts a 1% probability of thunderstorms, a temperature of about 32°, and a partly overcast sky with 100% cloud cover in the evening.
Here are the possible outcomes in the unlikely event that the weather decides to ruin the game: if the game cannot be finished on Sunday, a reserve day will be scheduled. The game will restart from the same spot on the reserve day (Monday) if the match is stopped in the middle and cannot be resumed on the original day.
The organizers have granted an additional 120 minutes for the match to be finished on Sunday, the original day, before it moves to the reserve day. If not, Monday will be the new date for the game.
Should the game be abandoned on Monday, meaning it cannot be concluded on Monday as well, the side with the highest point total will be declared the winners. Then, Kolkata Knight Riders will win the IPL 2024 championship for a record three times.
